In 2009-10 I conceived a tall vertical sculpture that embodies aspects of a female figure poised and rising while paradoxically supporting and showing its mass and weight. To make this structure in cast reinforced concrete required creating a set of steel forms strong enough to resist the considerable pressure. Then I researched and employed special additives for the concrete to impart strength and flow characteristics. The finished piece weighs about 27,000 lbs.
